I heard Nathaniel Urshan once tell that Bishop Haywood wrote the song during an extended period of fasting and seclusion for prayer. After leaving his prayer chamber, he came to the Urshan home and sang the song to Andrew Urshan with tears literally squirting from his eyes as he sang!

Thank you for writing on this man of God. Just two things to check: As far as his parents were concerned, they named him William Emmanuel (not Edmond) and I believe he was born in Switzerland (not France) where the Booth-Clibborn’s worked & had such great effect – Katie having been imprisoned there for Salvationist gatherings. I have The Demarest Campaign Hymn book (his sister Victoria) in which one can find many, many great hymns by W.E. B-C. When he preached at Glad Tidings Tabernacle,New York, they said fire came down on the more than 1,500 present. Thank you for writing about one of God’s great servants.

Hi, I grew up in the Message Church and I just want to say firstlly that I do believe that Brother Branham was a man of God, a prophet and the endtime prophet. I always remember the sermons preached about Brother Branham. I remember hearing Brother Branham preached more about than Jesus Christ our LORD and Saviour. I was always puzzled to see a picture of Brother Branham on the wall behind the pulpit. Brother did say that once he died that there would be people who would make him into a ‘God’. We must be careful not to become idolaters. Brother Branham did say we must go back to the bible and back to our first love, Jesus Christ. Please do not get caught up in Religiosity, please don’t let offense take hold of your spirit. “He that has an ear, let him hear”.
